A Tale of a Child Soldier

A Tale of a Child Soldier

RFA Burmese released a video on August 10 detailing former child soldier Aung Ko Htway’s abduction and forced conscription into the Burmese army in 2005. The video and corresponding articles in Burmese and English describe his long path to freedom after suffering inhumane conditions in training camps and false incarceration. The interview led to his arrest on the charge of defaming the military just a week later. The Burmese Service received a Bronze award for Video and Film at the 2017 New York Festival for this story.
